Never has my job felt more meaningful than it does at this moment in time. It’s been a life-long dream to build a fiscally disciplined multi-generational company with my son Nic, and to bring along a select team to share in this endeavor and have a stake in its outcome.
Barber Partners is a story of entrepreneurship. My journey began in South Louisiana with a standing start of nearly zero, morphing into a company with more than $3 billion in assets under management and hundreds of employees. I was schooled in the traditions of hard work, honesty, and determination and the belief that dedicated teamwork and pursuing opportunity brings together endless possibilities.
Our team operates with these same values at the core of everything we do. We have an “owner mentality.” Unlike many in the real estate business, we’re not looking to get rich quick by speculating with other people’s money. We treat our investors’ dollars with the same caution and adherence to sound risk management principles that we use for our own, with a view toward building consistent long-term returns.
I believe our entrepreneurial flexibility is a competitive advantage. Our intentionally flat structure allows each of us to operate with maximum flexibility within our areas of expertise. The result is everyone affiliated with Barber Partners has a deep sense of ownership over their responsibilities.
I am so grateful for the people who have chosen to join the new venture. I’ve worked closely with everyone, and I know we have the right people supporting the needs of the organization and who are committed to the fiducial responsibility our investors have placed with us. We have seen the industry’s ups and downs. We know when the time is ripe for the aggressive pursuit of opportunity, as well as when we should cash in our existing chips and wait for better days.
